The Kylin
The Kylin was built in 1997 by Freeman Bay boats as a 57ft Westcoaster and in 2004 was extended to the current 62ft.
New Twin Scania motors have been installed in November 2007 with a cruising speed of 16 – 18 knots with a full speed of 23knots.
The wheelhouse was greatly lengthened to accommodate passenger needs but this still left enough working deck for 14 passengers to fish in comfort.
A retrousse stern was added, housing the full beam dive platform and steps. These are reached through double transom doors. There is a hot and cold shower to one side of the platform.
An awning covers two thirds of the deck with protective clip in windows for all weather protection.
There are 3 single berths in the forepeak plus 2 double cabins downstairs. Their are lounges upstairs for passengers comfort.
The wheelhouse layout puts an extremely well-equipped galley aft to starboard with a lounging area-dinette ahead. The main control station is to port with the dinette aft of it, An air conditioner ensures comfort even in the hottest of weather. There is a full gas oven, microwave, fridge and sink for preparation of meals.
For refilling dive tanks there is a 190m3/minute Bauer, able to deliver 350 bars.
Refrigeration was an essential consideration for storing the catch during the 6 day Montebello Safaris so a five cubic metre freezer, operating at 18 degrees minus C is below deck There is also a self contained one cubic metre brine tank on deck.
